Landmine explosion occurs between Amchide and Kolofata, Far North Region, Cameroon, March 21. Casualties reported.

At least one member of the armed forces was killed and several others injured in a landmine explosion while driving between Amchide and Kolofata, near the border with Nigeria, Far North Region, early March 21. Boko Haram is suspected of having perpetrated the attack. This is the second attack allegedly perpetrated by the terrorist group in the Far North Region within a week, following an armed attack on March 18.

Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely in the impacted area in the coming days. Authorities may launch retaliatory operations against militant hideouts in the region. Armed clashes between separatists and security forces cannot be ruled out.
