Costa Rica: Protest planned by agricultural workers in San Jose March 29

Agricultural workers affiliated with multiple organizations, including the National Union of Agricultural Producers of Costa Rica (Union Nacional de Productores Agropecuarios Costarricense, UNAG), as well as members of several opposition political parties and national unions, plan to hold a march in San Jose March 29. The demonstrators are denouncing the national government's agricultural policies, including its intention to join the Pacific Alliance. Activists plan to gather at Braulio Carrillo Park, in front of La Merced Church, starting at 09:00, and march to Democracy Square, in front of the Legislative Assembly.

Thousands are likely to participate in the demonstrations, which will likely cause transport disruptions and lead to heightened security along the route march.
