Activists plan to hold demonstrations in multiple cities throughout Latin America March 8 and 11 to demand equal rights for women as part of the commemoration of International Women's Day. Some of the largest confirmed events are the following:

Mexico

  • Mexico City: Rally in Monumento a la Revolucion at 12:30 March 8; rally in Glorieta de las Mujeres que Luchan at 15:30 March 8; march from Monumento a la Revolucion to the National Senate and to the Antimonumenta in Avenida Juarez, 12:00 March 11.

  • Guadalajara: Rally at Plaza de la Republica, 16:00 March 8.

  • Monterrey: Rally at Explanada de los Herores, 18:00 March 8.

  • Morelia: March from Plaza Morelos to the Government's Palace, 17:30 March 8.

  • Puebla: March from the Attorney General's Office to the state's Congress at 14:30 March 8; from El Gallito to the Attorney General's Office at 17:30 March 8.

  • Queretaro: Rally at Alameda Hidalgo, 16:00 March 8.

  • Toluca: Rally at Parque Simon Bolivar, 12:30 March 8.

Chile

  • Santiago: March from Plaza Baquedano to Los Heroes, 18:00 March 8.

  • Valparaiso: March from Plaza Sotomayor to the National Congress, 11:00 March 8.

  • Concepcion: Demonstration at Tribunales de Justicia, 18:00 March 8.

  • Temuco: Rally at Plaza Camilo Catrillanca, 18:00 March 8.

Other Countries

  • San Jose, Costa Rica: Rally at Parque Central, 16:00 March 3.

  • Guayaquil, Ecuador: March from Parque Soledad Rodriguez to Plaza Tomasa Garces, 17:00 March 8.

Related demonstrations are also likely in multiple other cities across the region. The largest gatherings could draw tens of thousands of participants. Heightened security and disruptions to transport and business are likely around all related demonstrations. Clashes between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out.

Avoid all demonstrations as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations in impacted cities March 8 and 11. Heed the instructions of local security personnel.
