Myanmar: Authorities prohibit commercial electricity usage in Yangon 17:00-22:00 daily through March 20

The Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC) has announced that commercial electricity usage will be prohibited in Yangon 17:00-22:00 daily through March 20. Authorities are implementing the measure to ensure students have access to adequate electricity for exam preparation in mid-March. Officials stated that businesses that violate the order would face penalties.

Commercial and communications disruptions are likely during the outages. Businesses without backup generators may have to suspend operations. Power disruptions could also result in the temporary unavailability of essential services such as ATMs and petrol stations.
