Unionized teachers and other school workers, including members of United Teachers Los Angeles, are striking in Los Angeles, California, March 21-23, to demand an increase in salaries and investment in public schools. During the strike all public schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) will remain closed, affecting more than 400,000 students.

Activists plan to demonstrate in multiple locations throughout the strike, starting March 21. Organizers have confirmed an initial gathering at the Van Nuys Bus Yard at 04:30 and demonstrations outside all public schools in the district starting at 06:30. A mass rally outside the Los Angeles Unified School District headquarters, located along South Beaudry Avenue, is scheduled at 12:00.

Negotiations between union and LAUSD leaders are likely to continue, and if an agreement is reached, the strike is likely to be canceled before March 23. Transport disruptions are likely near the protest areas. Businesses may see higher-than-usual absenteeism due to the schools' closures.
