Rail service disruptions ongoing in several southern areas of Finland April 21. Reconfirm the status of rail service before departure.

Informational

Event

Rail disruptions have been reported in southern Finland April 21. A fire in Littala earlier in the day caused rail cable damage leading to disruptions between Hameenlinna and Toijala. Police suspect arson and are investigating. Separately, a system error on the coastal line has resulted in disruptions between Helsinki and Turku. It is not clear when normal service will resume; however, service will likely normalize through the afternoon.

Increased demand for alternative forms of public transport is likely which could lead to congestion and further delays.

Advice

Reconfirm the status of rail and other public transport services before departure.
