Nigeria: Aviation employees to strike April 17-18

Several unions have called on aviation employees to strike nationwide April 17-18. The unions initially issued a 14-day ultimatum Feb. 7 over salary and working conditions and said an indefinite strike action will ensue following the April 17-18 work stoppage if their demands are not met.

The level of adherence to the work stoppage is unclear. Should the strike go ahead, nationwide disruptions to domestic airport operations, inducing flight cancellations, are likely. International flight disruptions cannot be ruled out. Related protests in the vicinity of airport facilities nationwide are possible. Participants may obstruct access to airport facilities.
