Authorities say 2,000 people who live within a 1 km (0.6 miles) radius of the blaze have been evacuated. Those outside the 1 km (0.6 miles) radius should shelter in place, keep windows and doors close, and turn off air conditioning systems. The fire has been contained, but the fire is likely to continue to burn for the coming days. Classes in public schools in Richmond were canceled on April 12.
