WestJet (WS) and subsidiary Swoop (WO) pilots represented by the Air Line Pilots Association International (ALPA) canceled a planned nationwide strike slated to start at 03:00 May 19. This comes after the union reached a deal with the airline.

More than 100 flights were canceled in the preceding days in anticipation of the walkout. Lingering disruptions will likely extend for 72 hours from May 19 as airlines rebook flights, reposition aircraft, and work through passenger backlogs.
