CAR: Security operation likely to continue in Paoua, Ouham-Pende Region, through at least late May
Joint military operation likely to continue in Paoua, Central African Republic, through at least late May to apprehend suspected bandits.
Event
Joint Central African Armed Forces (FACA) and Chadian military operations will likely continue in Paoua, Ouham-Pende Region, through at least late May to apprehend suspected bandits. Following several attacks killing civilians by unidentified assailants in Chad's southern Logone Oriental Province, officials announced the operation will continue until the banditry threat has been neutralized. While the operation has been ongoing since May 14, at least a dozen bandits were killed and several arrested.
The Chadian and Central African Armed Forces will almost certainly maintain very tight security in the area of military operations. Local security measures could include movement restrictions, vehicle checks, bans on public gatherings, or curfews. Armed clashes and violence are likely. Attacks against civilians and civilian facilities are possible. Security operations could extend beyond the locality of Paoua as security forces pursue suspected bandits.
