Informational

Event

Residual traffic disruptions are possible in the vicinity of Atoyac de Alvarez, Guerrero State, over the coming hours after students from the Intercultural University of the Peoples of the State of Guerrero (UNIPEG) and other activists blocked the Acapulco-Zihuatanejo highway (Federal Highway 200) in the nearby La Central area May 29. The demonstrators reportedly gathered to demand that their studies at a local UNIPEG campus be accredited. The protest blocked the passage of dozens of vehicles as they attempted to travel through the area.

Heightened security is possible near the protest site. While unlikely, clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out over the coming hours, especially if police attempt to forcibly disperse any remaining demonstrators.

Advice

Avoid the demonstration site until the protest activity abates. Consider taking alternative routes to circumvent any residual traffic disruptions. Adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
