A magnitude-5.2 earthquake occurred in northern Peru at 04:31 May 1. The epicenter was about 104 km (65 miles) north northwest of Pucallpa. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 30 km (19 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout northern Peru and parts of western Brazil. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties due to the earthquake; however, significant damage is unlikely.
