Informational

Event

Slovakia will introduce extraordinary control measures at all land border crossings and international airports from May 24-June 8. Enhanced controls will be introduced to ensure heightened security ahead of two major events in the country, the Globsec 2023 Bratislava Forum May 29-31 and the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club Slovakia - World Run 2023 event June 2-4.

Heightened security is certain at land border crossings, and cross-border shipping disruptions are likely. Enhanced checks at airports may increase passenger processing times. Lingering freight shipping disruptions may occur at land border crossings through June 9 following the border reopening as freight operators and transport companies clear backlogs. International train travel will not be affected.

Advice

Follow local travel and security advice. Confirm entry and exit requirements for travel through Slovakian border crossings. Confirm deliveries and transport reservations through Slovakian border crossings. Consider rerouting time-sensitive consignments. Ensure all documentation is prepared before travel. Allow extra time for border crossings. Plan for lingering disruptions through June 8. Confirm rail travel arrangements.
