Activists plan to protest in urban centers across Slovakia onSept. 19. The purpose of the demonstrations is to denounce layoffs, funding cuts, and other changes at the Ministry of Culture. Planned demonstrations include:
Banska Bystrica: SNP Square from 17:00.
Bratislava: SNP Square from 18:00.
Kosice: Lower Gate (Dolna Brana) museum on Hlavna from 18:00.
Nitra: Pedestrian Zone (Stefanikova Trieda) from 17:00.
Zilina: New Synagogue on J. M. Hurbana from 16:00.
Additional protests are possible in other urban centers nationwide.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near all protests. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.
Avoid protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near protest sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security distubance may occur.
