Spain: Unionized Air Europa personnel to strike nationwide May 29-30 and June 1-2

Multiple Air Europa strikes to prompt flight disruptions in Spain May 29-30 and June 1-2; reconfirm bookings.

Informational

Event

Air Europa (UX) pilots represented by the Sindacato de Pilotos de Espana (SEPLA) will continue strike actions nationwide May 29-30 and June 1-2. The union is demanding increased pay for Air Europa pilots.

The action will likely cause disruptions to UX-operated flights serving the following cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Bilbao, Valencia, Ibiza, Vigo, A Coruna, Alicante, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife. However, due to minimum service regulations, Air Europa must continue to operate 90 percent of services. Disruptions could persist after the end of the action, as the airline deals with passenger backlogs and repositions aircraft and crew. Previous strikes by SEPLA members disrupted Air Europa operations May 22-23 and May 25-26.

Advice

Confirm flights if booked to travel with Air Europa on strike-affected days. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Allow extra time for checking in at affected airports.
