Unionized public transport workers plan to strike in Turin, Italy, June 7; service disruptions likely.

Informational

Event

Unionized public transport workers in Turin will observe strike action on June 7. The Faisa-Cisal, Fast-Confsal, and USB labor unions are denouncing the Turin Transport Group (GTT) for its working practices and employment conditions. The industrial action will impact train, metro, bus, and tram services at different times:

  • 10:00-14:00: Extra-Urban railway service, Line SFMA Venaria-Airport-Ceres, may be delayed or canceled. This may affect services to Turin Airport (TRN).
  • 14:00-18:00: Railway service Line SFM1 Rivarolo-Chieri.
  • 18.00 to 22.00: Urban-Suburban Service, the subway, bus service SF2, and replacement railway services Turin-Venaria.

Public transport disruptions and consequent travel delays are almost certain to occur; services that do run could be overbooked. Higher demand for alternative forms of transport during the labor action will probably result in increased traffic congestion and reduced taxi availability. Union members may stage protests during such strikes, and demonstrations are possible at transport hubs in the affected areas on June 7. Any such gatherings will likely pass without major incident.

Advice

Confirm all urban public transport reservations in affected areas June 7. Check local media sources for up-to-date information on regional public transport information. Consider alternative transport options to mitigate travel disruptions and allow extra time to reach destinations. Avoid demonstrations as a precaution. Heed instructions from authorities.
