Italy: Unionized air traffic controllers plan strike at Palermo Airport, Oct. 11

Unionized air traffic controllers plan strike at Palermo Airport, Italy, 13:00-17:00 Oct. 11. Air travel disruptions likely.

Informational

Unionized air traffic controllers employed at Palermo Raisi Airport (PMO) plan to strike 13:00-17:00 Oct. 11. Members of the FILT CGIL and Uiltrasporti will likely take part in the industrial action.

In parallel, members of Techno Sky, an information technology subcontractor of Italy's national air traffic control operator ENAV, will strike at Bari (BRI), Brindisi (BDS), and Milan Linate (LIN) Airports. However, this action is unlikely to significantly disrupt air travel operations.

Unless averted, the strike will prompt temporary air travel disruptions in Palermo. The action will also likely cause passenger processing and airport operation disruptions. Flights are guaranteed by national law from 18:00-21:00. Striking workers may form pickets at airport entrances.

Contact flight operating companies for service updates. Allow extra time for airport passenger processing.
