A magnitude-5.0 offshore earthquake occurred near the Ryukyu Islands at around 07:10 JST June 5. The epicenter was about 122 km (76 miles) south-southeast of Itoman, Japan. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles), and light shaking may have been felt in parts of the Ryukyu Islands.
