Mexico: Unionized teachers plan to march in Oaxaca City, Oaxaca, from 09:00 June 14

Unionized teachers affiliated with Section 22 of the National Union of Education Workers (Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educacion, SNTE) plan to hold a protest march in Oaxaca City June 14 to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the 2006 eviction of teachers and demand justice against those responsible for the eviction. Demonstrators plan to gather at Crucero de Viguera at 09:00 before proceeding to the Zocalo. Hundreds are likely to participate in the action.

Heightened security and localized business and transport disruptions are likely near gathering venues and the march route. While demonstrations will probably remain largely peaceful, minor scuffles between police and protesters remain possible.
