At least three people killed in communal clashes in Malakal town, Upper Nile State, South Sudan, June 8.

Fighting between rival Nuer and Shilluk communities at a displaced persons camp in Malakal left at least three people dead and 16 others injured on June 8. The fighting erupted after some members of Shilluk communities killed a Nuer man and set him on fire.
A heightened security presence is likely in the area over the coming days. Further violence is possible over the near term.
Malakal is located approximately 518 km (321 miles) north of Juba.
