Lingering flight delays and cancellations are likely over the coming hours at airports in the Atlanta, Georgia area amid thunderstorms prompting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue an earlier ground stop for flights to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL) June 25. Departure delays at ATL are averaging 60 minutes.

The FAA may issue additional weather-related ground delay programs and/or ground stops for airports in the Atlanta area through at least late June 25.
