Lingering flight delays and cancellations are likely over the coming hours at airports in the New York metropolitan area after thunderstorms prompted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue ground delay programs at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA) June 25. The ground delay programs at both airports are in effect until at least 21:59. The air traffic control measures could be extended or rescinded on short notice.
The FAA may issue additional weather-related ground delay programs and/or ground stops for airports in the New York metropolitan area through at least late June 25.
