Chad: Activists plan to hold anti-French protest in N'Djamena from 14:00 July 14
Activists plan to stage anti-French demonstration at Zen Bada Field in N'Djamena, Chad, from 14:00 July 14. Heightened security likely.
Event
The Party for Democrats for Renewal (Parti des Democrates pour le Renouveau, PDR) plans to stage a protest rally at the Zen Bada Field in the neighborhood of Diguel, N'Djamena, starting at 14:00 July 14. The rally aims to oppose the perceived occupation of French forces in the country, among other issues. Despite a ban on protest activity by authorities, PDR has called upon several political and civil society leaders to attend and anticipate up to 2,000 participants.
Authorities will probably deploy increased security around the field as a precaution; localized business and transportation disruptions are likely, particularly along Djibrine Kherallah Avenue. Clashes with security forces are possible, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or ignore police orders to disperse.
Advice
Avoid the protest due to possible clashes. Consider using alternative routes if operating near the impacted area. Abide by all official directives. If violence occurs, leave the area immediately and take shelter in a secure, nongovernmental building.
