Event

A magnitude-5.6 earthquake occurred near Santiago at around 13:11 CLT on July 9. The epicenter was about 31 km (19 miles) east-northeast of Chicureo Abajo. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 101 km (63 miles), and moderate to strong shaking was likely felt in areas closest to the epicenter, including Santiago, with weak-to-light shaking felt throughout western Argentina provinces.
