Explosions occurred at several locations in Yangon the evening of July 4. Belated reports indicate that the blasts took place at two military camps; the Information and Publish Relations Department, Immigration Office, and Copyright Registration Department in Bahan Township; and the District Court in South Okkalapa Township. At least three soldiers were injured in the explosions. Anti-junta guerrilla groups in Yangon have claimed responsibility for the attack.

Context

Explosions continue to occur in major cities in Myanmar amid ongoing civil unrest following the 2021 military coup. Most incidents target security forces, government offices, or individuals and organizations supporting the military. Additional blasts, pro-democracy demonstrations, and clashes between protesters and security personnel are likely over the coming months.
