Informational

Event

NZ Bus officials have canceled their plans to suspend bus services in Auckland from 02:00 July 14 after striking bus drivers affiliated with the Tramways and First Union reportedly agreed to end their labor action and continue collective bargaining negotiations late July 13. NZ Bus suspended all bus drivers participating in the work stoppage without pay and planned to cancel all bus services after the striking drivers indicated that they planned to turn off their fare meters for about a week. The unionized bus drivers initially went on strike July 10 to demand higher wages and better working conditions. Strike organizers may restart the work stoppage on short notice depending on the evolution of the negotiations.

Auckland Transport (AT) has indicated that all bus services will now operate as normal and in accordance with AT's Matariki holiday timetables on July 14; regular timetables are scheduled to resume July 15.
