Senegal: Utility provider plans to disrupt water distribution in Dakar and nearby locations July 15

Water distribution disruptions planned in Dakar and other nearby areas in Senegal starting at 07:00 July 15 due to maintenance operations.

Informational

Event

Senegal's water provider SEN'EAU plans to temporarily disrupt water distribution in several locations starting at 07:00 July 15 to conduct annual maintenance work on the Sakal and Mekhe substations. Areas scheduled to be impacted by the water distribution disruptions include Dakar and its suburbs and Rufisque, Thies, M'bour, and Saly. These areas will experience a gradual reduction of water pressure to no water. SEN'EAU has indicated that water service will likely be restored by the evening. Water trucks will deploy to provide water to impacted areas.

Business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water. The water outages could extend beyond the estimated restoration time.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations if operating in the impacted areas. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Water pressure and quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
