Unionized teachers and other education workers, as well as retirees, plan to hold a march in downtown Caracas on July 12 to demand the government for improved salaries and benefits.

Demonstrators plan to gather at the Altagracia corner, outside the Venezuelan Social Security Institute, starting at 09:00. From there they intend to march to the nearby offices of the vice presidency of the country, located along Urdaneta Avenue.

Hundreds are likely to participate in the protest, which will likely prompt heightened security and road closures in the area. Police may obstruct the demonstrators from arriving at the vice presidency's offices, and some low-level clashes are possible.
