Rallies denouncing ongoing communal clashes in Nuh District likely across India through at least early August. Increased security likely.

Warning

Event

Activists are likely to stage nationwide rallies through at least early August to denounce the ongoing communal clashes that have occurred in Haryana's Nuh District since July 31. In recent days, activists affiliated with the Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), and related organizations have staged various rallies in several areas, including several parts of Delhi Division, as well as Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh states. Additional demonstrations of varying types, including road blockades, marches, and shutdown strikes, are likely by like-minded and opposing religious and other groups over the coming days. Potential gathering locations include prominent government buildings, public squares, sports grounds, and thoroughfares. In the National Capital Region and its surrounding areas, demonstrators may assemble near religious sites and transportation hubs. Well-attended gatherings have previously attracted hundreds of participants.

Authorities are maintaining an increased security presence in the National Capital Region and its adjacent areas as a precaution. Officials will almost certainly monitor any further rallies that materialize nationwide. In the National Capital Region, security personnel may enact enhanced restrictions, including vehicular checks and temporary public movement and telecommunication restrictions, if significant violence occurs. Clashes between police and activists, as well as among members of opposing religious and political groups, are possible. Incidents of violence, including arson and vandalism, cannot be ruled out. Associated disruptions to several transportation modes, such as rail and bus services, may occur.

Advice

Avoid all demonstrations due to possible clashes. Exercise increased caution if operating in or near the National Capital Region and its surrounding areas. Keep away from concentrations of security personnel. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Avoid all protests. Confirm business appointments, transport reservations, deliveries, and road status. Do not check out of accommodations before confirming onward travel. Carry proper identification documents to present at security checks. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
