Nigeria: Unionized aviation employees to strike nationwide from Aug. 16

The National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) has directed aviation Security (AVSEC) and logistics sub-sector employees to stage a nationwide strike from Aug. 16 over low pay.

Unless averted, the labor action will significantly disrupt air transportation services and prompt long security queues. Associated demonstrations in major urban areas cannot be ruled out. Residual disruptions are possible in the coming days.

Confirm flight reservations and do not check out of accommodation until onward travel is confirmed. Avoid protests or other large public gatherings that materialize as a precaution.
