The Balochistan Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for an ongoing armed attack targeting a vehicle convoy of a Chinese company near Faqeer Colony Bridge, Gwadar, Balochistan Province, Aug. 13. Explosions and gunfighting between militants and security personnel are underway since the attack started around 09:30. Authorities separately announced a security operation in Gwadar killed one militant and injured three others; it is unclear if it is related to the attack. Local media indicate the seven attacked vehicles had multiple passengers, including Chinese nationals. Authorities are likely to announce the official casualty count in the coming hours. The city is on high-security alert with entry and exit bans, reportedly prompting disruptions to operations at the Gwadar Port. Internet suspensions are also affecting the region.
