Warning

Event

Ongoing tribal clashes are likely to persist in Wadh, Khuzdar District, through late August. As of Aug. 17, two factions of the Mengal tribe have engaged in fighting following the violation of an existing ceasefire agreement on Aug. 15. Emerging reports indicate related localized transport disruptions have intermittently occurred along routes between Khuzdar and Karachi on National Highway 25.

Authorities will likely maintain a heightened security posture in the impacted area over the coming days. Officials may implement enhanced restrictions, including temporary public movement and/or telecommunication restrictions as a precaution and/or if significant violence occurs. Related demonstrations could occur, especially near government buildings, public squares, and thoroughfares. Further clashes between the various communities, as well as between activists and security forces, cannot be ruled out. Additional localized transport disruptions are likely, especially on National Highway 25. Associated localized business disruptions and shipping delays are possible.

Advice

Exercise a high degree of caution if operating in or near the impacted area. Keep away from locations where security personnel appear to be deploying. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Confirm business appointments, transport reservations, deliveries, and road status. Do not check out of accommodation before confirming onward travel. Carry proper identification documents to present at security checks. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
