Authorities are responding to bomb threats targetting multiple public facilities nationwide as of the morning of Aug. 16. Unidentified perpetrators reportedly sent emails claiming to have placed bombs in multiple locations, including universities and government buildings, such as:

  • Busan City Hall

  • Daegu City Hall

  • Hwaseong City Hall

  • Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), Daejeon

  • Korea University, Seoul

  • National Tax Service, Seoul

  • Pohang University of Science and Technology

  • Seoul National University

  • Supreme Prosecutor's Office, Seoul

  • Suwon City Hall

  • Yonsei University, Seoul

Evacuations are reportedly underway at Hwaseong City Hall. However, authorities have not confirmed any threat to the community.

Increased security is likely near affected buildings in the coming hours; possible cordons and road closures may prompt localized transport disruptions. Additional evacuations are possible in affected buildings as a precaution.
