Burkina Faso: Utility provider to disrupt water distribution in Ouagadougou and nearby locations Oct. 2-3

Water distribution disruptions to occur in Ouagadougou and other nearby areas in Burkina Faso on Oct. 2-3 due to maintenance operations.

Informational

Event

Burkina Faso's water provider, the National Water and Sanitation Office (ONEA), plans to temporarily disrupt water distribution in several locations Oct. 2 due to maintenance work. Areas impacted include Ouagadougou, Ziniare, Loumbila, and Pabre. ONEA has indicated that water service will gradually be restored on Oct. 3. Customers are advised to stock up on drinking water.

Business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water. The water outages could extend beyond the estimated restoration time.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations if operating in the impacted areas. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Water pressure and quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
