Heavy rainfall is forecast across parts of southern Ontario and southern Quebec through at least Sept. 19. Environment Canada has issued red rainfall warnings (the highest level on a three-tier scale) for parts of the northern Ontario Peninsular around Owen Sound due to heavy rainfall forecast early Sept. 18; rainfall totals in excess of 5 cm (2 inches) are possible in the coming hours. A fog advisory has been issued for the area just to the south of the rainfall warning. A separate rainfall warning has been issued for parts of southern Quebec around Sherbrooke. Rainfall totals of 4-6 cm (1.6-2.4 inches) are expected in the warning area through late Sept. 19. Officials could update and possibly extend the coverage of weather alerts over the coming hours.
Sustained heavy rainfall could trigger flooding in low-lying areas and landslides on unstable slopes. The severe weather could contribute to transport disruptions throughout the region. Floodwaters and debris flows may render some bridges, rail networks, or roadways impassable, impacting overland travel in and around affected areas. Ponding on road surfaces could cause hazardous driving conditions on regional highways. Authorities could temporarily close some low-lying routes that become inundated by floodwaters.
Severe weather may trigger flight delays and cancellations at airports across the affected region. Flooding could block regional rail lines; freight and passenger train delays and cancellations are possible in areas with heavy rainfall and potential track inundation.

Seek updated information on weather and road conditions before driving or routing shipments through areas where severe weather is forecast. Plan accordingly for potential delivery delays if routing shipments by truck through the affected area. Do not attempt to drive through flooded areas. Confirm flights.
