Canada: Boil water advisory issued for parts of Monteregie region, Quebec Province as of Sept. 1

Officials issue boil water advisory for several areas in the Monteregie region, Canada, as of Sept. 1.

Informational

Event

Officials have issued a boil water advisory for several areas in the Monteregie region as of Sept. 1 after laboratory test results indicated the presence of the E.coli bacteria in the water. The advisory is in effect for Saint-Hubert, Vieux-Longueuil, Boucherville, and Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville until further notice. Officials have advised discarding ice cubes made on Sept. 1 and instructed schools and businesses to shut off water fountains and post contaminated water signs near faucets. Tap water is safe for showers and dishwasher use; however, dishwater cycles would be used on high heat.

Poor water quality could impact businesses and organizations that rely on public water.

Advice

Boil water for at least two minutes and allow it to cool before consumption. Follow these instructions for all water uses, including drinking, cooking, personal hygiene, and preparing food. Consider stocking up on bottled water supplies.
