Rescue operations are ongoing after a fire broke out during a wedding ceremony at an event hall in Al-Hamdaniyah district, Nineveh Governorate, early Sept. 27. According to officials, at least 100 people are dead and more than 150 others injured. Unconfirmed reports suggest that fireworks may have caused the blaze.

Heightened security measures are likely in the affected area over the coming hours. Associated transport and business disruptions are probable.

Al-Hamdaniyah is approximately 32 km (20 miles) southeast of Mosul.
