Unionized air travel workers in Italy plan to strike on Sept. 29. Members of multiple trade unions, including those in the airport ground sector, will strike between 00:01 and 23:59; EasyJet (U2) flight attendants will walk off the job from 13:00-17:00. Unless averted the labor action will likely prompt delays and cancelations on Italian flights. ITAirways (ITA) officials have also canceled several flights in preparation for the work stoppage.

Authorities have stated that the strike will not impact previously scheduled continental and chartered flights to islands between 07:00-10:00 and 18:00-21:00. Union members typically stage protests during such strikes, and demonstrations are possible at airports. Any such gatherings will likely pass without major incident.

Lingering air travel disruptions are possible during the demonstration timeframe and may persist for several hours after the action ends. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are possible near any protests that materialize.
