Additional violence is possible in the Ain al-Hilweh camp near Sidon through mid-September. Fighting between rival armed Palestinian groups started on Sept. 7. Additional armed clashes were reported on Sept. 9 and 11. At least six people have been killed and at least 60 others injured in the confrontations.

Heightened security measures, including road closures and personnel and vehicle checks, are likely in the affected area. Localized transport and business disruptions are likely.

Context

Clashes in Ain al-Hilweh between rival Palestinian groups are a relatively regular occurrence. Prior to the recent violence, the last round of clashes, which began in late July, lasted several days and resulted in at least 13 deaths and dozens of injuries.

Avoid the affected area until the situation stabilizes. If operating in the area, heed the instructions of local security personnel.
