Authorities are responding to two shootings and a structure fire in south Rotterdam on Sept. 28. The first shooting occurred on Heiman Dullaertplein in Delfshaven before a second shooting in a classroom at the nearby Erasmus Medical Center. At least two people have been injured in the shootings. A fire, possibly connected to the shootings, is also ongoing around 25 Heiman Dullaertplein and is spreading to nearby buildings; explosions have been reported. Law enforcement officers have swarmed the area and are searching for a suspect. Authorities have asked the public to avoid each scene and for those near the fire to stay indoors with windows and doors closed and ventilation turned off.

Heightened security and transport disruptions are likely through the evening or until authorities give the all-clear. Heavy smoke may linger for several hours after the fire is brought under control.
