Participants planned to gather to denounce an increase in tuition fees however, police forces forcibly dispersed the gathering. Gunfire has been reported in the area, likely rubber bullets and tear gas from security personnel.

A heightened security presence will likely persist in the vicinity of the university through Sept. 6. Clashes opposing students and police and localized travel disruptions on nearby roads are possible.
