Members of the Union of Construction Workers of Panama (Sindicato Unico Nacional de Trabajadores de la Industria de la Construccion y Similares, SUNTRACS) are protesting in several areas in and around Panama City on Sept. 11 to denounce a mining contract agreement between the government and First Quantum Minerals. Protests have been reported along the Transistmica and near Puente Centenario, Arraijan, and Las Mananitas. Protesters are blocking roads, and traffic disruptions have been reported in affected areas.

Localized disruptions to businesses, public transport, and public services are likely in the coming hours. Police may move to disperse protesters, which could prompt confrontations.
