Heightened security, transport disruptions, and multiple protests are likely in New York, N.Y., Sept. 18-26, due to the celebration of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, and related events.

More than 140 heads of state and government are scheduled to attend the meetings, and authorities will deploy additional security, especially from 34th to 65th streets, between First and Seventh Avenues. Most events will be at the United Nations Headquarters, located at First Avenue, between 42nd and 49th streets, in the Midtown area of Manhattan. Numerous roads in the area will be closed.

Additionally, multiple protests throughout the event are likely to occur in the area; some of the protests may be disruptive, and low-level clashes between protesters and police may occur. Authorities have asked people in the area to avoid using private vehicles. Significant disruptions are likely in the area through Sept. 26.
