Power outages and fluctuations have been reported in areas across Venezuela Sept. 13. The electricity supply disruptions have reportedly impacted the Capital District, as well as the states of Aragua, Anzoategui, Bolivar, Carabobo, Cojedes, Falcon, Guarico, La Guaira, Lara, Merida, Miranda, Nueva Esparta, Tachira, Trujillo, and Zulia. Power supply disruptions may impact other states over the coming hours. Authorities did not immediately confirm the cause of the power outages or when power would be fully restored in affected areas.

Transport and business disruptions are possible in areas subject to power outages; businesses without backup generators could temporarily suspend operations. Mobile voice and internet service disruptions are possible. The electricity disruptions could also affect ATMs and fueling stations. The blackouts could adversely affect security protocols, including alarm systems and electronic fences; opportunistic criminal activity could increase during the power outages.
