Chad: Activists to stage protest march at Fort-Lamy Air Base in N'Djamena Oct. 13
Pan-African activists plan to stage protest march near N'Djamena International Airport, Chad, Oct. 13. Avoid the demonstration.
Event
Activists associated with the Rally of Young Africans (Rassemblement des Juenes Africains, RJA) plan to stage a protest march in front of Fort-Lamy Air Base (Camp Kossei) on Oct. 13. The purpose of the action is to denounce the repositioning of French forces from neighboring Niger back to Chad. Organizers have not announced the start time for the march; authorities have as yet not issued a permit for the event. It remains unclear how many participants the demonstration may draw. Fort-Lamy Air Base is colocated with N'Djamena International Airport (NDJ).
Authorities will probably deploy increased security around the airfield as a precaution; localized business and transportation disruptions are likely. Clashes with security forces are possible, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or ignore police orders to disperse.
Advice
Avoid the protest due to possible clashes. Consider using alternative routes if operating near the impacted area. Abide by all official directives. If violence occurs, leave the area immediately and take shelter in a secure, nongovernmental building.
