Activists affiliated with the Hindu nationalist organizations Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal plan to stage a rally at Mumbai's Shivaji Park on Oct. 15. The purpose of the event is to mark the 350th anniversary of the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Mumbai Traffic Police will impose several closures along Raja Badhe Chowk and adjacent roadways between 14:00 and 19:00 in order to facilitate the gathering and minimize disruptions to the public.
While the event will likely remain largely peaceful, minor security incidents cannot be ruled out. Increased security and associated transport disruptions are likely in the general vicinity of Sivaji Park for the duration of the rally.
