Security forces are responding to protesters near Tahrir Square in Baghdad Oct. 1. Clashes have been reported between demonstrators and security forces; at least four people have reportedly been injured. The purpose of the action is to commemorate the anti-government 'Tishreen Movement' protests that began in October 2019.

Localized transport disruptions are likely in the area through at least late Oct. 1. Authorities may also maintain a heightened security posture near the Green Zone, including around governmental buildings. Additional clashes are possible. Further related protests are possible in the coming days.
