Montenegro: Activists to demonstrate in Podgorica, Oct. 30
Political activists to protest at Parliament building in Podgorica, Montenegro, from 18:00 Oct. 30. Transport disruptions likely.
Activists affiliated with the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro will demonstrate at the Parliament of Montenegro building on Svetog Petro Cetinjskog Boulevard in Podgorica from 18:00 Oct. 30. The purpose of the rally is to pressure the government into a formal decision to postpone a planned census. Opposition politicians had previously expressed concern that the census could be affected by fraud and encouraged citizens to boycott; government officials have tentatively agreed to postpone the census. It is unclear how many participants the protest may draw.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest site. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or politically opposed bystanders cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the Parliament of Montenegro. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
