Pakistan: Balochistan National Party to hold sit-in demonstration outside Islamabad's Parliament House Oct. 30

Balochistan National Party to organize sit-in protest outside Parliament House in Islamabad, Pakistan, Oct. 30. Increased security likely.

Warning

The Balochistan National Party (BNP) is planning to hold a sit-in demonstration outside Islamabad's Parliament House on Oct. 30 to denounce perceived insecurity in Wadh and other parts of Balochistan Province. Protest organizers did not immediately specify the time at which the demonstration would begin. The gathering could draw hundreds of participants if well attended. BNP leaders could change the gathering location on short notice due to organizational or law enforcement-related issues.

Additional rallies are possible in Islamabad over the short term. Potential gathering sites include prominent government buildings, public squares, press clubs, and thoroughfares. Authorities will almost certainly monitor any such rallies that occur and may move to disperse overly disruptive crowds. Clashes between police and activists cannot be ruled out. Demonstrators could march along or block roadways, causing localized transport disruptions. Associated localized business disruptions are possible.

Avoid all demonstrations as a precaution. Depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance. Allow additional travel time near gathering sites. Plan accordingly for possible localized business disruptions. Heed all official transport and security advisories.
