Warning

Event

Activist groups will conduct two unrelated demonstrations in Bucharest on Oct. 14. LGBTQ activists affiliated with MozaiQ plan to march from University's Square (Piata Universitatii din Bucharesti) to Victory Square (Piata Victoriei) starting at 14:00; organizers have not announced an exact march route. Separately, beginning at 15:00, pro-Ukraine activists associated with the Solidarity Romania-Ukraine group plan to protest at the Russian Embassy to denounce Moscow's military involvement in Ukraine. It is unclear how many participants may attend either event.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the demonstration areas. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators, law enforcement officers, frustrated motorists, or other individuals cannot be ruled out.

Advice

Avoid the affected areas as a standard precaution until the demonstrations end. Allow additional time if traveling in central Bucharest. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
